Oga’s Cantina Review at Batuu East and West

The Disney Drink Blog used hyperdrive to visit Oga’s Cantina at Batuu West and then in the same week Batuu East.

For the uninitiated, Oga’s Cantina is the new Star Wars Themed Bar at Disneyland Park in California and Disney Hollywood Studios in Florida.

Updated September 2020 – Based on our Aug 2020 visit, there are some changes due to current health concerns! So see our new post for these updates.

Batuu is the name of the town represented in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at both Disney parks.

We really enjoyed trying these new, highly themed bars on both coasts. In this post we’ll cover the atmosphere, drinks, and note any differences.

Oga's Cantina Review Bar

Oga’s is a very busy fun location!

Reservations are required and can be made via My Disney Experience (app or web) and the Disney World website for Florida and via the Disneyland app and website for California.

Note: On both coasts Disney states “Reservations Only”. We found this to be mostly true. During breakfast we noted a line all morning at Disneyland and they stuck to the reservations only policy at While Disney World there was often no line for breakfast and they were taking walk-ups during breakfast.

Disney asks that you arrive 15 minutes prior to your reservation. When you arrive, you’ll see the line to the right of the door/podium. this line is for those with reservations. Just hop in the line; a cast member will verify your reservation as you get in line or shortly thereafter.

Atmosphere

Whether you are a Star Wars fan or not this is a fun bar to visit. It’s loud and very busy, but there is so much detail to look at. It’s a fun atmosphere.

There is Star Wars cantina style music playing continuously by the robotic DJ and there are a couple of songs where the staff joins in singing and shouting.

Seating

Ogas has three types of “seating,” wide U shaped booths with low stools on the the open side along the outer wall, standing only narrow, high-top tables between the bar and booths, and the standing only bar.

Oga's Cantina Review Booth Seating
Booth Seating

We noted that wait service tends to be slow at tables and high tops, at least during our visits, so we recommend the bar.

When it’s your turn to enter the hostess will take you to the “seating” type that’s available. You can ask for the type that you’d like, which might extend your wait time some.

With bar or high-top initially you’ll get just enough area for your drinks to sit and for you to reach past others to get them. As those near you leave you can naturally claim a little more space before others move in.

When you first arrive, you will be squished in wherever there is room at the bar or high-tops.

You will be seated with other parties at the tables.

LIMITATIONS

Oga’s on both coasts has a stated policy of two drinks max (of any type, alcohol or not) per person and a 45 minute stay in the bar.

Florida’s Hollywood Studios has done away with the 2 drink limit! Disneyland remains closed at this time

In California, we found no drink limit! The bar is a free for all. Multiple bartenders will serve you and you will pay after each drink. It’s possible to stay for well over two drinks!

The Menu

Oga serves a variety of out of this world concoctions.

All mixed drinks are pre-made in big batches and poured out of a tap. The only mixology that bartenders perform is mixing/adding accents (bitters, cream, etc.) and garnishing.

Florida’s Hollywood Studios has done away with the breakfast menu! Disneyland remains closed at this time

Oga’s has both a breakfast and an all day menu. The breakfast food and drinks are only available from opening until 10 a.m. while the regular menu is available from open to close.

Note: when we visited after Oga’s reopening, all breakfast food and drink had been discontinued. It is not know if these will return after WDW’s return to real normal operations or not.

All of Oga’s Drinks are sweet to very sweet! The exceptions being breakfast drinks with alcohol.

Specialty Drinks

Breakfast Only – Currently Unavailable

Bloody Rancor – Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Ancho Reyes Chile Liqueur, Spicy Bloody Mary Mix, and Rancor Bone – $18.00

A serviceable Bloody Mary. Not the best we’ve had at Disney, but not the worst either. The merengue “bone” is very sweet.

Spiran Caf – Peru Alto Mayo Organic Joffrey’s Coffee®, Orange Marmalade, Gosling’s 151 Rum, Vanilla Whipped Cream, and Citrus Zest – $17.00

We didn’t care for the Caf, it was citrusy, yet had an odd bitter taste at the same time.

Jedi Mind Trick – Ketel One Botanical Grapefruit and Rose Vodka, John D. Taylor’s Velvet Falernum, Bols Blue Curaçao, White Grape Juice, Lime Juice, and Grapefruit Bitters – $15.00

The Jedi Mind Trick reminded us of grape juice, it was very sweet.

Fuzzy Tauntaun – Cîroc Peach Vodka, Bols Peach Schnapps, and Simply Orange topped with Tangerine, Pure Cane Sugar, “Buzzz” Foam – $16.00

The Fuzzy Tauntuan is esentially a Fuzzy Navel, with a foam on top that will numb your lips and mouth, it’s quite an odd feeling. It’s a good drink once you get past the foam though.

Dagobah Slug Slinger – Herradura Reposado Tequila, Bols Blue Curaçao, Citrus Juices, Ginger, Herbs, and Bitters – $16.00

The Dagobah Slug Slinger is both earthy and sweet.

Bespin Fizz – Bacardi Superior Rum, Yuzu Purée, Pomegranate Juice, White Cranberry Juice, and Cloud Swirl – $18.00

The Bespin Fizz has liquid carbon dioxide injected into a lower compartment in the glass, this forms dry ice. The dry ice creates the bubbling and mist. This is a sweet grape-juice like drink with hints of pomegranate which seemed stronger at the bottom.

T-16 Skyhopper – Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Bols Melon Liqueur, Kiwi, and Half and Half – $16.00

The Skyhopper has a great melon taste smoothed with the cream shaken into the alcohol. This was a favorite.

Oga's Cantina Review Skyhopper

Jet Juice – Maker’s Mark Bourbon, Ancho Reyes Chile Liqueur, Cedilla Açaí Liqueur, White Grape Juice, and Lemon Juice – $15.00

Jet Juice is the least sweet drink on the regular menu. You’ll feel the chili tang a bit after a sip. If you are looking for a strong drink this is the strongest one offered by Oga and probably the least sweet, this is it.

The Outer Rim – Patrón Silver Tequila, Cedilla Açaí Liqueur, Lime Juice, and Pure Cane Sugar topped with Black Salt and Exotic Fruit Purée – $17.00

The Outer Rim is a fruity margarita. The sweet puree mixed with the sharp bite of the salt is great!

When you ask for the Yub Nub without the souvenir mug, we’ve experienced two different results, they will either serve it in the mug anyway and you don’t take it with you, or they just use a regular glass.

The Yub Nub is a fruity drink, you’ll taste the pineapple and passion fruit. When available they sprinkle passion fruit seeds on top.

White Wampa Ale

We’re not big on hefeweizens unless we’re in Germany on a warm day sitting outside with a citrus slice… But this one is great! It’s slightly heavier than most and doesn’t really need the citrus kick until you’re almost done and it’s warmed a bit.

Bad Motivator IPA – Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. – Tropical India Pale Ale with Galaxy and Comet Hops | ABV 6.0% – IBU 50 – $13.25

Typical IPA bite, good.

Gamorrean Ale – New Belgium Brewing Co. – Red Ale with Roasted Caramel, Hop Character, and Touch of Grapefruit | ABV 5.8% – IBU 42 – $13.25.

Good!  A little hoppy but not too much. You’ll taste the grapefruit.
